How do I bid on a Silent Auction item?

  1. Locate the auction gavel at the bottom of your mobile screen.
  2. Choose an item from the list and click the image or description to open bidding. (You must be registered for the event to bid.)
  3. Use the +/- buttons to increase or decrease bid amount. The initial amount shown is the minimum for the next bid.
  4. Select “Place Bid” and confirm your bid. (Enter credit card if not already on file.)
  5. Set a Max Bid (optional) using the +/- buttons or type in a custom amount. Not interested? Select “Not Now.”
  6. There are three ways to track your bidding during the auction:
    • Check ‘My Items’ beside the search bar.
    • Click the link in your outbid text or email alert.
    • Scan the list of auction items and look for the winning trophy image.

7. To find your perfect lots/items:

    • Search for a title or keyword to find something specific.
    • Filter items by category, sort by price, or click this button
    • Set up either list or grid view.
    • Click to watch items.

PRO TIP: Set your max bids before dinner to save time. The system bids automatically up to your limit, so you only need to check back if you’re outbid.

How do I know if I have been outbid?

You will receive a text or email if you have been outbid and can then return to the item and increase your bid if you like.

Can I change my bid once placed?

If you placed a bid by accident or if you typed in the wrong amount and the auction is still open, you can see any bid assistant or go to the Check-in/Registration area to have your bid removed. Once the auction is closed, you are responsible for that item. Please refer to the auction rules for more information.

Can I bid on multiple items?

Of course! Setting Max Bids is very helpful.

What happens if two people bid the same amount with automated bidding?

The first person to set up their bids with automated bidding will win the item when the auction closes. We encourage you to set up automated bidding early so you have the best chance of winning!

How do I know if I won an item in the Silent Auction?

When and how do I pay for won items?

  1. Click the Cart button. On a mobile phone, the Cart button is in the bottom toolbar.
  2. Review your cart. You can check the box above the Pay button to help CVCA cover processing fees.
  3. Click “Pay.” Your card will be charged immediately, and you will receive an emailed receipt.
  4. If you purchased a tangible item, go to the area it was being displayed and show the Silent Auction table host your payment email to pick up your item. You will have to sign for that item. If your item is a certificate, it will be emailed to you as soon as your payment is processed.
  5. If you see an issue with your cart, need to change the card on file, or would prefer to pay by cash or check, stop by the check-in tables, and they will assist you.

How do I bid in the Live Auction?

Raise your bid number sheet, which is provided in your folder. You will be acknowledged by the auctioneer each time you bid.

Where do I pick up my items?

If you have a pre-registered credit card, you can pick up any items you won in the Silent or Live Auction by going to that item’s section and showing the volunteer that you have paid for the item (via your phone confirmation). They will have you sign for the won item.

What if I need to leave the auction early?

You can continue to bid on Silent Auction items online. If you win an item and are not present, please arrange with the Development Office to pick up your item at CVCA within two weeks of the Royal Evening.

What is “Super Silent”?

The Super Silent segment highlights valuable, high-ticket items such as experiences and premier goods. Bidding takes place on the auction site alongside the Silent Auction but closes five minutes later.

What is the Cake Auction?

During dinner, bid on fabulous cakes displayed by students. Winners choose their preferred flavors in winning order, and cakes are served immediately to your table as dessert. Boxes are provided for leftovers.

What is Raise for Royals?

After the Live Auction, guests have the opportunity to donate at a specific dollar level announced by the auctioneer. To participate, simply raise your bid number. There is no limit to the number of times a guest may donate at any giving level. Your bids will be totaled at the end of Raise for Royals. The auctioneer will call your number each time as verification. No goods or services are received during this part of the auction.

Can I give anonymously?

You can donate anonymously online at any time during the event by clicking on the “Make a Gift” button on the bidding site.

Do I need to see a cashier to check out at the end of the evening?

If you pre-registered your credit card and all purchases are correct, you do not need to check out. The card on file will be charged within the next day or so. You may go directly to the Silent Auction area to pick up your items. If you need to change the card on file or pay by check or cash, stop by the check-in tables for assistance.
