Grandparents, we cherish the role you play in your grandchild’s life and invite you to be part of the wonderful things happening here this fall. Below are some key news items to keep you connected!
We’d Love to See You!
CVCA’s athletic teams and clubs are in the midst of an exciting season of competition. Please pray for God’s guidance in their efforts and that He would build up their talents and Christian sportsmanship.
Your participation or attendance at school events is encouraged as you cheer on your grandchildren.
School Sports
With seven high school fall sports and six middle school fall sports schedules, you’ll have plenty to see. Visit the CVCA Athletics web page HERE anytime for our game schedule.
The Royal Theatre
Hot off the press… There will be a Middle School Fall Play in addition to our High School Fall Play! “Lion King Kids” is in the works for November 22-23. The High School’s, “Much Ado About Nothing,” will take place on November 13, 15 and 16. Ticket information coming soon.
Alumni Homecoming
For those grandparents who are CVCA alumni, we would love to have you back on campus on October 4! Register HERE for an evening of reuniting with old friends, delicious food trucks, school tours, and a special end zone seating and party area at the Royals football game.
The Royals on Livestream
Did you know you can watch CVCA home games from the comfort of your couch? CVCA has a partnership with the NFHS Network to livestream home athletic contests. All home contests in Royals Stadium and Tim Beyerle Memorial Gymnasium are available to watch live or on demand through our NFHS Network page. A subscription to the NFHS Network is required to view games and will also provide access to games streamed by other schools through the NFHS Network. For more information or to subscribe, go to the NFHS Network at athletics.cvcaroyals.org/livestream.
Home varsity football games will continue to be streamed to the CVCA Livestream YouTube page. No subscription is required for YouTube games. Simply go to athletics.cvcaroyals.org/fblivestream.
CAUTION! There are many spammers out there, especially on social media, that share fake links to games. CVCA will only stream through its NFHS and/or YouTube channels. For away games, make sure any link is shared by an official school account.
Grandparent Support Means More than You Know!
Grandparents, here are a few win-win opportunities for you that will immediately impact students at CVCA while supporting the mission of the school!
Qualified Charitable Distributions can be made from an IRA Required Minimum Distribution directly to CVCA when you reach 70½ without increasing your taxable income! That makes it a no-brainer!
Gifting Appreciated Stock is a great way to make a gift by offsetting capital gains and receiving a charitable deduction.
Donor Advised Funds are accounts you can open specifically to make charitable contributions. Those deposits can be invested and then grow over time, whereby you can then give them to the charity of your choice at a later date. This allows you to control your giving timeframe while allowing the market to potentially help increase your gift amount.
Structure a Planned Gift that is committed in the present and gifted through your estate. This can be a bequest in a will, beneficiary designation on an IRA, annuity or insurance policy, a charitable trust, or leaving an asset such as real estate to the charity of your choice. There are numerous ways to craft a planned gift, and it can be a good way to navigate estate tax issues at a later date.
Thank you for considering how you can impact CVCA’s mission in Christian education. Contact John Harabedian in our Development Office at 330-929-0575, ext. 324, or email him at jharabedian@cvcaroyals.org for a conversation about any of these opportunities.
Read with Us!
If you enjoy reading, we invite you to join the CVCA faculty and staff in reading Practicing the Way: Be with Jesus. Become like him. Do as he did. Written by John Mark Comer, who also wrote The Relentless Elimination of Hurry, this book explores being an apprentice of Jesus. Instead of being formed by our culture, he encourages us to rearrange our days to have practices that will form us more to be like Jesus. Find it at a bookstore near you or online at Amazon.com or Christianbooks.com.
If you read this book, which I am greatly enjoying personally, I’d love to hear your reflections on it and how it may deepen your walk with Jesus. Drop me your thoughts by email at jmeybaum@cvcaroyals.org.
Grandparent Coffee Break
For those of you who live locally, I’d love to connect with you at a friendly, casual coffee break on Friday, October 4, at 9:00 a.m. at Panera, 689 Howe Ave. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (Chapel Hill area). We can enjoy some fellowship, and I can fill you in on the latest at CVCA. RSVP by email at jmeybaum@cvcaroyals.org or call me at 330-929-0575, ext. 325.
Send a Note to Your Grandchild
If you would like to send a note of encouragement or prayer to your grandchild, I’d be happy to surprise them by placing it in his/her locker during the school day! Send the note by mail to CVCA, Attention Jennifer Meybaum, 4687 Wyoga Lake Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44224. If you prefer to email it, I will print that note and put it in the locker. Email the note to jmeybaum@cvcaroyals.org.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers for our students and school. Your role as a grandparent is invaluable, and we are blessed to have you as part of the CVCA community.
With gratitude and blessings, Jennifer Meybaum, CVCA Grandparents Club Coordinator
