MATH

Haley Shedden: hshedden@cvcaroyals.org

Sean McDowell: smcdowell@cvcaroyals.org

  • We are so excited to kick off our final chapter of the year – Statistics! Students will be diving into real-world data as they learn how to read, interpret, and create graphs that help tell meaningful stories.
  • As we wrap up the year, we’ll also be preparing for our end-of-year MAP testing, which will take place on April 22 and 23. This is a great opportunity for students to show off how much they’ve grown this year – we can’t wait to celebrate their progress!
  • To finish the year strong, students will complete a final project that reviews all the important concepts we’ve learned throughout the year. We’ll also explore some mini units on 7th-grade standards to challenge students and give them a head start on next year’s learning!

SCIENCE

Mrs. Karen Shelford: kshelford@cvcaroyals.org

Mrs. Tammy Smith: tsmith@cvcaroyals.org

Question: Why was the geologist feeling sedimentary? A: He needed to rest!

Fourth quarter science will be all about rocks and minerals. Many kids enjoy learning about this facet of geology. We will practice identifying minerals using testing methods, and learn about the rock cycle and the three rock types: sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic. If you have any gneiss samples of rocks and/or minerals you’re willing to share with your students’ class, we will not take the loan for granite! All puns aside, we love teaching your children about the fascinating and ever-changing world God has made!

ENGLISH

Traci Willison: twillison@cvcaroyals.org

Jennifer Davies: jdavies@cvcaroyals.org

  • During the fourth quarter, we will complete our reading of Where the Red Fern Grows by writing essays and sharing projects.
  • Each of the students will be choosing a nonfiction book to read independently in class. Through reading the informational texts, we will develop various reading and writing skills.
  • Within our grammar units, we will practice using pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs correctly.
  • Membean homework will resume after Easter!
