The Royal Evening will be here on April 18! The Royal Evening is our school’s biggest fundraiser that directly impacts every CVCA student – and you can help make it a success! We invite you to be part of the auction excitement by donating an item to our class baskets.
Historically, each CVCA class works together to donate items for the Royal Evening silent auction. We are looking for class basket coordinators for 6th grade. It is really easy, and Amazon Wish List links help streamline the whole process. If you are interested, please reach out to Kristin Nichols at knichols@cvcaroyals.org.
As we begin the 3rd quarter, our class is starting an exciting unit on Ratios and Rates! Students will learn how to write and interpret ratios, compare quantities, find unit rates, and apply these concepts to real-world situations such as recipes, speed, and pricing. These skills build a strong foundation for proportional reasoning that will be used throughout the rest of the year. The Chapter 5 Quiz will take place on Friday, January 23.
Additionally, we are looking forward to our Ratio Math Workshop on our next block day. During the workshop, students will rotate through hands-on activities and small-group instruction designed to reinforce key concepts, build confidence, and provide targeted support or enrichment as needed. Thank you for all your support at home!
We will wrap up our Atmosphere Unit with an Atmospheric Heating Test on Friday, January 23. Don’t forget to learn the verse for each unit (Psalms 139:14), which means studying a little each day to know His Word – not just memorize! 🙂 Look for a Study Guide on Tuesday!
Next, we will start a section on “Weather/Climate” and then jump into Landforms, or should I say, onto Landforms!
As the third quarter gets underway, we will wrap up the reading of our novels by designing and sharing some creative writing projects. We are working on enhancing our writing by studying the usage of verbs in our grammar books. We will also build reading comprehension skills by learning how to analyze and summarize nonfiction texts. Encourage your child to complete all of the Membean trainings, which will build vocabulary and potentially help his/her class win a reward.
We are wrapping up our Mesopotamia unit, reviewing the Empires we’ve studied, and preparing for the unit test.
After Mesopotamia, we will head to Ancient Egypt to learn how civilization developed along the Nile River!
We are returning to memory verses this semester! Each week, students will either complete a Canvas worksheet to comprehend, interpret, and apply their memory verse to their lives or prepare to write the words of their verse from memory.
In class this month, we are learning about the Attributes of our Trinity God!
We have started Spanish, beginning with the alphabet, Psalm 3:3, and other vocabulary words. Please have your child listen, practice, and review all vocabulary words daily.
Quiz schedules will be available soon. We will also start our Spanish country Project.

Mr. Baxter and Mrs. Marosi will visit 6th-grade Bible classes in mid-January to begin the conversation about scheduling for next year. Please talk with your student(s) at home about their course choices. Watch for a school-wide email that instructs you to make 7th-grade course requests through the FACTS Family Portal. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
Students who attended our Service Day on January 8 should have 6 new hours added to their HelperHelper assignment! They do not need to enter these hours or have their parents enter them. Their total 16 hours of Service are due in May.
