Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is a non-profit ministry dedicated to Educating and Cultivating Servants for Christ. We are a middle and senior high school committed to high academic standards. Our biblically integrated, college-preparatory curriculum is delivered by a dedicated staff of Christian professionals committed to teaching from a biblical worldview and philosophy. We are committed to providing our students with experiences that will foster in them a servant’s heart, including extra-curricular activities, inter-scholastic athletics, music, theater, short-term mission trips, and numerous service opportunities. Job Summary:
Perform tasks that support day-to-day accounting activities within the Accounting Department
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the month-end and year-end close (including the Endowment). Prepare entries to account and document business transactions. Prepare and post journal entries.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile all subledger accounts to the general ledger.
- Assist in preparing the annual budget, including maintaining supporting documentation for the following: faculty and staff payroll, 401(k) contributions, tuition discount, and employee benefit plan costs.
- Work with department heads to monitor the budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis as needed.
- Coordinate and complete annual audit, working with external auditors.
- Prepare reports as needed for monthly Finance Committee and Board meetings.
- Establish and maintain proper accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
- Establish and maintain files to support all business transactions.
- Prepare annual distribution test, actual distributions, and coordinate/complete the annual audit for the Endowment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High level of proficiency in computer skills, including: QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite
- Strong understanding of accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school business administration, finance, accounting, or related field
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment
- Sit for long periods of time working on a computer
- Extended work hours may be required
- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
