Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is a non-profit ministry dedicated to Educating and Cultivating Servants for Christ. We are a middle and senior high school committed to high academic standards. Our biblically integrated, college-preparatory curriculum is delivered by a dedicated staff of Christian professionals committed to teaching from a biblical worldview and philosophy. Job Summary:

Perform tasks that support day-to-day accounting activities within the Accounting Department

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the month-end and year-end close (including the Endowment). Prepare entries to account and document business transactions. Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile all subledger accounts to the general ledger.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget, including maintaining supporting documentation for the following: faculty and staff payroll, 401(k) contributions, tuition discount, and employee benefit plan costs.
  • Work with department heads to monitor the budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis as needed.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audit, working with external auditors.
  • Prepare reports as needed for monthly Finance Committee and Board meetings.
  • Establish and maintain proper accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Establish and maintain files to support all business transactions.
  • Prepare annual distribution test, actual distributions, and coordinate/complete the annual audit for the Endowment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High level of proficiency in computer skills, including: QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Suite
  • Strong understanding of accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school business administration, finance, accounting, or related field

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment
  • Sit for long periods of time working on a computer
  • Extended work hours may be required
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
