MATH

Nicole Studer: nstuder@cvcaroyals.org

Sean McDowell: smcdowell@cvcaroyals.org

We are finishing off this year with geometry content. Students will complete several projects and hands-on activities to familiarize themselves with the 2D and 3D shapes we will be studying. That being said, it is very important that students bring their own calculator to class every day until the end of the school year. This will make it easier for them to perform the quick calculations needed to find the circumference, area, surface area, and volume of shapes. The suggested calculator that was listed in the syllabus is the Texas Instruments TI-30XS or TI-30X IIS.

SCIENCE

Isabel Chaplin: ichaplin@cvcaroyals.org

Pierson Chapman: pchapman@cvcaroyals.org

We are excited to start our final science units, which include Cycles of Matter (water, carbon, nitrogen) and Ecology! Students will dive into how God designed Earth’s ecosystems to work together and maintain life! With the warmer weather approaching, we will be able to spend more time exploring these topics outside and encourage students to make connections to their everyday lives! Our upcoming labs will include carbon cycle simulations, population density exploration, and creature projects!

ENGLISH

Meredith Neufeld: mneufeld@cvcaroyals.org

Jennifer Davies: jdavies@cvcaroyals.org

  • Neufeld: We’re working our way through our final two grammar units on adjectives and adverbs, and writing essays offering advice to next year’s seventh graders. After we finish those, we’ll close out the quarter and the year by reading a novel in class. Students will keep track of the characters, chapter summaries, important quotes, and Biblical connections as they read the novel.
  • Davies: Our final grammar units include adjectives and adverbs. Students are finishing creative essays where they were asked to create a new myth or fable based on the text structures from our last unit. This week, we began studying the background information and introduction for our final novel study on Treasure Island. We will spend the rest of the quarter studying the vocabulary, historical significance, and characters of this classic novel. Students will complete several choice projects along with regular journal responses throughout our study.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Jon Knab: jknab@cvcaroyals.org

David Ramey: dramey@cvcaroyals.org

Christian Canonico: ccanonico@cvcaroyals.org

Mason Boardwine: mboardwine@cvcaroyals.org

After completing our study of West Africa, we will now look ahead to the rest of the semester. As we head into the final stretch of the year, our class will explore the Middle Ages, the Holy Roman Empire, and the Protestant Reformation, focusing on the “what” and the “when.” We will then dive into “how” these eras shaped modern society and our present-day Christian faith. Students will explore cross-timeline connections, comparing theological shifts of the past with our current world to see how history breathes through our society today.

Ultimately, our goal is for them to see that while human structures and perspectives evolve, the core of our faith remains unshaken: Jesus Christ died and rose again for each of them. It is an exciting opportunity to look at the “why” behind what we believe while grounding ourselves in one eternal truth.

Students can expect two more major Unit Tests (Units 8 & 9). Within these units, I will provide opportunities for in-class assignments and activities to aid in their accumulation of points.

BIBLE

Zach Churchill: zchurchill@cvcaroyals.org

Dwayne Reed: dreed@cvcaroyals.org

Our journey through the Gospel of Luke will continue as we dive deep into Luke chapters 17-24 for the remainder of the school year.  As we walk through the end of Luke, we will take time to explore the events of Holy Week and all that Jesus went through for our sins to be forgiven and for the power of death to be broken. We will wrap up the year with fun Group Creative Project presentations and one final test to measure how much you remember of all the core information you learned this year.

WORLD LANGUAGE

Mrs. Elizabeth Sims: esims@cvcaroyals.org

Mrs. Heather Bartel: hbartel@cvcaroyals.org

  • SIMS – LATIN:
    • Students should be working on their Roman Timeline due on October 3.
    • Please keep up with any vocabulary discussed in class. All resources are found in the Module named Classroom Resources on Canvas.
    • Remember, if an assignment is late, a point will be deducted from your overall grade.
  • BARTEL – LATIN:
    • We have been having so much fun learning Latin with stories! Invite your student to tell one of their favorite stories to you in Latin, or have them read in English one of the stories written in Latin! I am impressed! I hope you are, too!

ELECTIVES

Kiara Brown (Art): kibrown@cvcaroyals.org

For the fourth quarter, we will continue to dive into new materials, such as charcoal, printmaking, and mixed media. Some classes will complete their clay vase projects, which have turned out really nicely! All projects and reflections can be found on Canvas. I try to grade completed work as quickly as I can, but if students are unable to finish by the deadline, then we can discuss project extensions later.

Finally, we would love to see you at the Visual Art Show on Monday, May 4, to support all the amazing work your child has achieved this year. We will need volunteers and donations, but stay tuned for more information!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Heather Rios: hrios@cvcaroyals.org

Nick Cook: ncook@cvcaroyals.org

Almost time to bowl! PE classes will head to Clutch Lanes during their class time in November. Look for a permission slip to come home soon.

GUIDANCE COUNSELING

Mrs. Beth Marosi: bmarosi@cvcaroyals.org

Mr. Ryan Baxter: rbaxter@cvcaroyals.org

Thank you for submitting your student’s 8th grade course requests.

During the third quarter, Mr. Baxter and Mrs. Marosi met individually with students to discuss their course choices and recommend the best-fit classes.  As in past years, schedules for 2026-27 will be available in August.  If you have questions or would like to make changes to the requested classes, please reach out.

SERVICE

Eileen Hoffman: ehoffman@cvcaroyals.org

Don’t forget to complete 16 volunteer service hours this year by May 1. When you complete 16 hours will determine what shows up on your report card. If you complete 16 or more hours, you will get a grade of Satisfactory (16+ hours). If you complete less than 16 hours, you will get a grade of Unsatisfactory. Don’t forget, if you completed hours over the summer (after May 24, 2025), you can use those hours to count toward this school year. To record your hours, please go to Helper Helper through Canvas. To learn more about how to do this, see the “How to track your hours” page on how to use the app in Canvas, or ask your Bible teacher.

SMO

Louisa Neumann: lneumann@cvcaroyals.org

Dwayne Reed: dreed@cvcaroyals.org

Mr. Bee, Mr. Reed, Mr. C, and some of our other Middle School male teachers lead a Bible study every Wednesday during lunch for 6th and 7th-grade boys! We are reading through the book of John! We’d love to have your 7th-grade student join us on Wednesdays.

EXTRA-CURRICULARS
