The Royal Evening will be here on April 18! The Royal Evening is our school’s biggest fundraiser that directly impacts every CVCA student – and you can help make it a success! We invite you to be part of the auction excitement by donating an item to our class baskets. Historically, each CVCA class works together to donate items for the Royal Evening silent auction. We are looking for Class Basket Coordinators for 7th grade. It is really easy, and Amazon Wish List links help streamline the whole process. If you are interested, please reach out to Kristin Nichols at knichols@cvcaroyals.org.
The Slopeside Jterm group had an amazing three days on the snow with Louisa Neumann, our SMO Girls Ministry Coordinator! The snow was great, the weather was just kind, and it was wonderful to see everyone having fun and supporting each other on the slopes.
This quarter, we will dive deeper into Algebraic concepts and learn to solve multi-step equations and graph inequalities. Later this quarter, we will graph linear equations on a coordinate plane before moving into a geometry unit. If you are looking for resources to better support your child’s academic growth at home, all notes, homework assignments, and other math resources can be found on Canvas.
- We are continuing to learn about microscopes and how they led to the discovery of cells. In our next unit, we will dive into Cell Theory, the structure and function of organelles, and the differences between plant and animal cells. We will also continue in-class labs to gain hands-on experience with the topics in each unit. As the semester progresses, we will dive into photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and ecology.
- All notes, homework, assignments, and other resources are found in the modules section on Canvas.
- With the start of the new year, new semester, and new quarter, we are working on defining and locating specific nouns in sentences, including: predicate nominatives, direct objects, indirect objects, appositives, and nouns of direct address. We will also be writing another five-paragraph essay about an entirely original holiday. The students should use the “Writing Tools” packet and the rubric (both available in Canvas Files and in their blue English binder) to ensure they’ve completed the writing assignment correctly.
- After our unit on Nouns, we will enjoy a brief time reading poetry, and each student will have the opportunity to write their own original poem.

- Over the past few weeks, students participated in a Civilization Simulation. We reviewed the characteristics that all early civilizations shared, and students worked in teams to create and manage their own civilizations. Along the way, they faced a variety of real-world challenges and scenarios that tested their problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making skills. Teams earned points in various categories as they navigated these challenges, and this past Monday, we crowned the winning group in front of the entire grade. The winning civilization was named Nightfall from 6th period!
- All students have the opportunity to complete test corrections to earn credit back on multiple-choice questions that they missed. This is a great way to reflect on what they’ve learned, understand any mistakes, and improve their scores. We strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this!
- Please ensure that your student has headphones in their backpack for use in class. A cheap, wired pair is fine. They are considered a required school supply. Thank you!
- We are excited to continue our journey through the Gospel of Luke as students lead Luke Chapter Research Presentations to help their peers learn. Each group is assigned two chapters of the Gospel of Luke and is tasked with identifying five “mysteries” to explore and research. Once their research is complete, they create slides to share what they learned and develop a game for their class to play.
- We are also continuing our journey through Season One of The Chosen. This powerful visual representation of the life of Jesus gives students wonderful fuel for their imaginations as they try to visualize stories in the Gospel of Luke.
- Students will continue to complete Spiritual Reflections designed to encourage students to think about their lives from God’s perspective and through the lens of God’s Word.
- SIMS – LATIN:
- Students should be working on their Roman Timeline due on October 3.
- Please keep up with any vocabulary discussed in class. All resources are found in the Module named Classroom Resources on Canvas.
- Remember, if an assignment is late, a point will be deducted from your overall grade.
- BARTEL – LATIN:
- We have been having so much fun learning Latin with stories! Invite your student to tell one of their favorite stories to you in Latin, or have them read in English one of the stories written in Latin! I am impressed! I hope you are, too!

Almost time to bowl! PE classes will head to Clutch Lanes during their class time in November. Look for a permission slip to come home soon.
- Mr. Baxter and Mrs. Marosi visited 7th-grade Bible classes in mid-January to begin the conversation about scheduling for next year. Your students will meet individually with their School Counselor over the next few weeks to discuss their 8th-grade class requests. We encouraged them to talk with you at home about their choices.
- Next step: Please watch for a school-wide email that instructs you to make 8th-grade course requests through the FACTS Family Portal. We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
The 7th-grade Service Learning Day is scheduled for October 27.
- Please be on the lookout for permission forms and additional information.
- We’ll enjoy our annual “Fall Fest” at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and local Christian elementary schools. Then we’ll head to Fun-N-Stuff in the afternoon!
- Cost: $16
Mr. Bee, Mr. Reed, Mr. C, and some of our other Middle School male teachers lead a Bible study every Wednesday during lunch for 6th and 7th-grade boys! We are reading through the book of John! We’d love to have your 7th-grade student join us on Wednesdays.
