When a student leaves campus for any reason, families need to use Orah to record the reason and time of arrival or departure. Student drivers need to enter and exit the school building through Student Entrance C. Parents dropping off or picking up students will enter at the Welcome Center.
Orah App and Attendance FAQs
Why do I need to put things in Orah?
It lets the school know that your student has your permission for the following:
- To be out sick
- To leave for an appointment
- To arrive late or leave early to/from school.
Will using Orah automatically excuse my student’s absence?
Not necessarily…
- In order for an absence or tardy to be excused, it must qualify under the allowable reasons listed in the Student/Parent Handbook.
- Excused Absences (medical appointment, death of an immediate family member, college visit, driver’s education – all with documentation).
- Excused Tardies (medical appointment, driver’s education, involvement in an accident, bus breakdown or delay, family emergency – some require documentation). Please note that “traffic” is not excused. Students receive two grace tardies each semester to account for unexpected issues like traffic.
- All documentation can be emailed to attendance@cvcaroyals.org or a paper copy can promptly be dropped off at the main office.
- As a reminder, CVCA is a closed campus for students in grades 6-11 → Students are not permitted to leave campus in the middle of the day and then return for any reason other than a medical or dental appointment. Seniors with special approval may be eligible to leave over their lunch period. For more eligibility information, please check the SENIOR PAGE for details.
Is using the app or the attendance web portal mandatory?
Yes, we do require that all absences or tardies be recorded by a parent/guardian in Orah. We care deeply about the safety and security of our students, and having one platform to track this important data is the best way to ensure we maintain accurate records.

Extended Absence
Students planning to miss more than three days of school should submit the Application for Approval for Student Leave of Absence form to request the absences to be excused. This form must be completed two weeks before the first day of absence.
