It’s Your Senior Year!
It may be hard to believe, but graduation is really not that far away! Because this year goes by quickly and so much needs to be done, we have created a senior checklist so you do not miss any important deadlines. Please read the checklist carefully, as it lists your responsibilities regarding this important milestone in your student’s life.

College Planning
All seniors should schedule a College Advising Meeting with Mrs. Sara Fridline in the Guidance Office. No appointment is necessary. Just stop in during PRT, study hall, or lunch. If you have college advising questions, please email Sara Fridline or call 330-929-0575, ext. 308.

The mission of CVCA is to educate and cultivate servants for Christ in a college preparatory educational environment. To prepare students for college as well as life outside CVCA, the open campus privilege may be available to seniors who meet certain requirements and remain in good academic and behavioral standing.
To be eligible for the Open Campus Privilege, a senior must:
- Meet the required hours of attendance set by Ohio law
- Be in good academic standing (not on academic watch or probation)
- Maintain a satisfactory discipline record (no extended detentions, ISS or OSS, or any other major disciplinary infractions)
- Comply with all Ohio laws when driving
- Abide by the CVCA Student/Parent Handbook both on and off campus
- Be mature, responsible, and Christ-like while off campus, having respect for the property and personal rights of others and the community
- Report to their assigned next class on time
Senior Open Campus Procedures:
- Seniors will be permitted to leave campus only if they have a study hall period connected to lunch. CVCA prohibits students from transporting any other CVCA student off campus; any senior who violates this rule will lose the Open Campus Privilege and may be ineligible for other senior privileges.
- Seniors using the open campus privilege must exit through Student Entrance C (near the middle school) and may not reenter the building until 5 minutes before their next class. Seniors must wait in the lobby area until the bell rings. No food is to be brought into the building for themselves or other students.
- Seniors arriving late to school, being dismissed early, or leaving during the day should follow all school procedures, policies, and requirements.
The Administration reserves the right to revoke the Senior Open Campus Privilege based on certain circumstances, including:
- Failing to meet the required hours of attendance
- Being on academic watch or probation
- Violation of the CVCA Student/Parent Handbook
- Violation of the law (including traffic violations)
- Transporting another student off campus
- Not arriving at the next assigned class on time and/or not parking in designated student areas (As stated for late arrival, more than 3 infractions will result in a loss of privileges.)
- Encouraging students without open campus privileges to participate in the Senior Open Campus Privilege
- Failure to return to school for the remainder of the day. (Note: If a student becomes ill or is unable to return to campus, a parent or guardian must report it on Orah.)
Students and Parents must print, sign, and submit this Senior Open Campus Student/Parent Agreement to the Main Office during the first week of classes.
Seniors will apply to colleges using the Common App or the application on the college’s website. It is expected that each senior will complete one college application by Thanksgiving.

Naviance is a program used by high schools and colleges to assist with college and career research and the college application process. CVCA uses Naviance as a tool to send application materials to colleges (including transcripts and recommendation letters) and to track where our students apply. Log in to your Naviance account on a regular basis!
Seniors will be allowed to reserve a parking spot in Parking Lot D and paint it. Parking spots will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. You can find additional details for Senior Painted Parking Spaces HERE.
The CVCA Yearbook (The Scroll) offers parents of seniors a wonderful opportunity to publicly display their love and affection for their son or daughter. The yearbook reserves space in the Advertising section of the book for parents to publish their final blessings, thoughts, and words of encouragement, along with any favorite baby and/or senior portraits. These “Baby Ads” help defray the costs of publishing such a large four-color volume and have become a tradition loved by all.
All you need to do is reserve your space as soon as possible and then provide your message and photos. Spaces are limited and will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each block is approximately 1 3/4 inches high by 2 ½ inches wide and designed by students. All students working on this section have previously taken Yearbook and are well qualified to design your ad, which will be in the style of this year’s yearbook. When choosing the size of your child’s ad, please take the time to look at previous books and take note of the number of photos and message sizes that can fit in each size. Curricular Requirements
To graduate from CVCA, you must meet the State of Ohio’s minimum graduation requirements and CVCA’s curricular requirements. See your guidance counselor for more information.
