Whether it’s across the street or across the world, the follower of Jesus is called to give of his time, talent, and treasure to those in need. At CVCA we believe that mission trips provide an opportunity to live out our faith outside of the classroom and to love our neighbors as ourselves. CVCA offers three mission trips so our students might participate in the joy of serving their Maker by serving others.
Every summer CVCA takes a group of rising seniors to the Dominican Republic for a service trip/spiritual retreat. Meeting God in Missions (MGM) is a ministry in the city of Hato Mayor in the Dominican Republic. MGM helps provide the fundamentals of leading a christian life and gives students great opportunities to serve God alongside them. Students engage in children’s ministry, sharing the Gospel, distributing clothes, medical work, and deepening spiritual disciplines. This is a life-changing trip where students both grow and serve.
During this trip, CVCA freshmen work with The Pittsburgh Project, a Christian non-profit community development organization serving Pittsburgh’s most vulnerable residents. Our week-long trip provides the opportunity for students to be the hands and feet of Christ as they participate in construction, landscaping, demolition, maintenance, and cleaning tasks. It also provides opportunities to bond, grow, and serve as a class, creating lasting memories and lessons.
Urban Hope Training Center
Students and leaders serve with the Urban Hope Training Center. The center began in 1998 as a ministry of CE National and is located in Northern Philadelphia. The ministry is a cross-cultural urban training center with a mission “to reach the urban family through children and youth and train believers in cross-cultural ministry.” Through UHTC many young people come to faith in the Lord Jesus, some of whom are now a regular part of the ministry! Urban Hope is about people who are on a mission for Christ. Their desire is to share the Gospel and reach out to the community. As Urban Hope serves the youth and families in the neighborhood, they desire to reach, teach, equip, and develop through the ongoing ministry of the Center, as well as through the church they have planted.
