Dominican Republic Trip
Every summer CVCA takes a group of rising seniors to the Dominican Republic for a service trip/spiritual retreat. Meeting God in Missions (MGM), a ministry in the city of Hato Mayor in the DR, helps provide the fundamentals of leading a christian life and gives students great opportunities to serve. Students engage in children’s ministry, sharing the Gospel, distributing clothes, medical work, and deepening spiritual disciplines. This is a life-changing trip where students both grow and serve.
CVCA freshmen work with The Pittsburgh Project, a Christian non-profit community development organization serving Pittsburgh’s most vulnerable residents. The week-long trip allows students to be the hands and feet of Christ as they participate in construction, landscaping, demolition, maintenance, and cleaning tasks. They also bond as a class, creating lasting memories and lessons.
Urban Hope Training Center
Students serve with the Urban Hope Training Center in Northern Philadelphia. The ministry, which began in 1998 as a ministry of CE National, is a cross-cultural urban training center with a mission “to reach the urban family through children and youth and train believers in cross-cultural ministry.” Urban Hope is about people who are on a mission for Christ. Their desire is to share the Gospel and reach out to the community by teaching, equipping, and developing through the ongoing ministry of the Training Center, as well as through the church they have planted.
Whether it’s across the street or across the world, the follower of Jesus is called to give of his time, talent, and treasure to those in need. At CVCA we believe that mission trips provide an opportunity to live out our faith outside of the classroom and to love our neighbors as ourselves. CVCA offers mission trips so our students might participate in the joy of serving their Maker by serving others.
