Flannel Pajama Pants Fundraiser

Talking Royals Success

This past Saturday, the Talking Royals competed at Wooster High School, taking 11th place in a field of 48 teams from around the state. The team was led by Megan Marshall, who beat 61 other competitors to become the tournament champion in Program Oral Interpretation. The pair of Anna Trenta and Talie Koch went undefeated in preliminary rounds of Public Debate, becoming quarterfinalists and earning a place at the state tournament. Similarly, Donovan Brown went undefeated in preliminary rounds of Lincoln-Douglas Debate and was a quarterfinalist. Dominic Catalano took top novice in International Extemporaneous Speaking and Nate Cook took second place novice in United States Extemporaneous Speaking.

Talking Royals Showcase – January 19

The Talking Royals are thrilled to announce their inaugural Showcase event on Friday, January 19, 6:30 p.m. in the Anne Tell Chapel. Come see CVCA students perform their speeches and interpretation pieces, then attend a breakout session, where every Talking Royal has the opportunity to perform or debate. The event is free, so invite your family and friends.

Shya Designs House Parties

Shya Designs, a SOBE student-run business, began as a way to aid Rwandan women impacted by genocide in their country. To support themselves and revive joy within their lives, these strong women began making bags and other products that reflect their country’s culture.

Spring Musical Crew Opportunities

Any students interested in joining a crew for Hello Dolly should have their applications completed by Monday, January 22.

SOBE PITCH NIGHT – January 25

Seniors in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship will present their business pitches to a panel of judges in front of a live audience at the 9th Annual Business Pitch Night on January 25, 5:00-8:00 p.m. (doors open at 4:30). The event will be held in the Chapel and Rasnick Center. RSVP HERE.

Junior Royals Hockey Event – January 27

On Saturday, January 27, the Junior Royals will hold thir 2nd Annual Hockey Event at the Dan Kostel Recreation Center in Garfield Heights. Check-in will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by CVCA’s Senior Recognition at 5:00 p.m. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Junior Royals will receive:

  • FREE ticket to the game
  • Gift bag
  • Hot chocolate bar and cookies
  • Chance to win four tickets to a Cleveland Monsters Hockey game
  • FREE skate with the Varsity Royals Hockey Team after the game and FREE rentals

Moms in Prayer Invites You

The Moms in Prayer group continues to meet on Friday mornings at CVCA from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. After drop-off, parents can park and meet at the Welcome Center area by 7:50 a.m. to check in. The group will then go to the Athletic Conference room to pray for CVCA students, faculty, and staff. All CVCA moms are welcome to attend as often as you can. Questions? Snow Day Notifications

In the case of bad weather/road conditions or other emergency conditions, CVCA school closure information is posted on our website. A text message and email will also be sent to families, so please make sure your contact information is up to date in Renweb (Family Portal).

HIGH SCHOOL

High School Winter Social – February 3

Mark your calendars and get ready for the annual Winter Social! All high school students (grades 9-12, CVCA students only) are invited to the 2024 Winter Social on Saturday, February 3, 7:30-10:00 p.m. at Todaro’s Party Center. Come enjoy DJ & dancing, games, prizes, desserts, photo booths, and more!

  • Tickets: 15.00 per person – for sale January 23-31. A parent-signed waiver (HERE) is required to purchase a ticket. No checks or cash are needed – tickets will be charged to the family’s FACTS account.
  • Attire: Casual! This is a relaxed, informal event – nice pants and jeans are encouraged. 

ACT TEST PREP

Juniors have two great opportunities to prepare for the March 12 ACT Test at CVCA. Preparing ahead of time helps students build confidence, reduce anxiety, and maximize their scores.

  • ACT test preparation is available at CVCA through our test prep partner, PATHworks! Students attend three sessions on February 5, 7, and 8, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Room 112. The cost is $325 for all three classes. Questions may be directed to the PATHworks! class instructor, Patricia Smoot-Wicks at patricia@pathworksohio.com or 330-861-4973. Register at HERE.
  • Additional ACT/SAT test prep options are available HERE.

Upcoming ACT Test dates: February 10, March 12 (all juniors taking at CVCA), and April 13.

Malone University Rep meetings

Representatives from various departments at Malone University will be here to speak with students in the Rasnick Center from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
