SOBE Career Window Speaker – February 15

On Tuesday, February 15, Mark O’Brien from On Now Digital will be at CVCA to speak about Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Join us in the SOBE Room (109) during 5A & 5B Lunches.

Mark O’Brien brings a rare blend of logical, linear thinking and hyper-creative problem solving to On Now Digital. In addition to uncovering market needs and lending his results-tuned consulting ear, Mark is responsible for managing daily operations, prioritizing product development, allocating resources, and ordering the coffee. Luckily, he’s a good multi-tasker. Mark has helped assemble a team that values agility and innovation and operates under the golden rule of treating everyone as you want to be treated. He holds a B.S. in finance and management from Houghton College, and has 10+ years of experience as a digital project manager and entrepreneur.

A Look Inside Our Classrooms

CVCA’s AP English Language and Composition class recently read a short selection from Ta-Nehisi Coates’ #1 New York Times bestseller, Between the World and Me. Mrs. Meszaros shared: “This thought-provoking work that won the 2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction always leads to a discussion on what it is like to grow up as a person of color in America. Because of this, I love to bring in a variety of faculty and staff members who can speak to their own experiences on the subject. It is a blessing to have brothers and sisters in the Lord share their heart and firsthand experiences with my students.”

Service Hours Due May 13 for all Bible classes

Here are some helpful tips for students:

S – Serve at least 8 hours for a church or non-profit organization before May 13.

E – Expect delays. Sometimes there is a one-day delay for notifications from Helper Helper.

R – Right phone numbers and emails will work in the Helper Helper App. Wrong information will not.

V – Verify hours. Students should inform parents as they track hours and watch for the email or text.

E – Evaluate if there is a problem with HelperHelper. See your Bible teacher or Mrs. Hoffman for help.
