MATH

Haley Shedden: hshedden@cvcaroyals.org

Sean McDowell: smcdowell@cvcaroyals.org

We are finishing our “Percent “chapter this week and are proud of the progress students have made! Next, we will begin a short chapter introducing 7th-grade math skills, focusing on adding and subtracting integers to help prepare students for next year. We will also hold a Math Workshop during the next block day, giving students extra time for practice and support. After this chapter, we will transition to geometry, which will be our focus throughout March.

SCIENCE

Mrs. Karen Shelford: kshelford@cvcaroyals.org

Mrs. Tammy Smith: tsmith@cvcaroyals.org

Shelford: As we continue our unit on Topography, we are learning how to read contour maps and will create our own mountain during our next lab! Don’t forget to get out there and build that snowman if you haven’t already (due March 13). I’ve seen some REALLY creative ones! 🙂 Next, we FINALLY get to our minerals and rocks unit!

ENGLISH

Traci Willison: twillison@cvcaroyals.org

Jennifer Davies: jdavies@cvcaroyals.org

We just began our literature unit on Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. With most of our reading occurring in class, students will write reflections and participate in discussions to accompany the text. They will also practice their editing and revision skills with the writing they complete during this unit. In grammar instruction, students are memorizing prepositions and working through Unit 8, “Nouns, A Name for Everything.” After this unit, students will work through a unit on pronouns and antecedents.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Brianna Jones: bjones@cvcaroyals.org

Christian Canonico: ccanonico@cvcaroyals.org

We are enjoying exploring Ancient Egypt this quarter!

BIBLE

Jenna Barbieri: jbarbieri@cvcaroyals.org

Dwayne Reed: dreed@cvcaroyals.org

Barbieri: This week, students are wrapping up a short project unit. They have been learning about the gospel and will be working this weekend to demonstrate a creative way to share the gospel with others.

Reed: In our current unit, we’re exploring what’s in each book of the New Testament. My hope in going through this unit is for our kids to see that everything points to Jesus and His heart for us!

WORLD LANGUAGE

Mrs. Elizabeth Sims: esims@cvcaroyals.org

Mrs. Heather Bartel: hbartel@cvcaroyals.org

Sims: Students are currently working on their Spanish Country Slides, with presentations beginning on March 2. Students are also learning about the 21 countries whose official language is Spanish, their geographical locations, and their capitals. A quiz on the countries is coming soon. Please check Canvas for details.

Bartel: Students are having fun learning Spanish together! We are learning about Spanish-speaking countries, talking about the weather, hearing stories, and listening to stories through music! Feel free to ask them what they are learning in class; I am sure they would love to share some of the fun stories!
