Ministry Overview:
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is a non-profit ministry dedicated to Educating and Cultivating Servants for Christ. We are a middle and senior high school committed to high academic standards. Our biblically integrated, college-preparatory curriculum is delivered by a dedicated staff of Christian professionals committed to teaching from a biblical worldview and philosophy. We are committed to providing our students with experiences that will foster in them a servant’s heart, including extra-curricular activities, inter-scholastic athletics, music, theater, short-term mission trips, and numerous service opportunities. Job Summary:
Provides broad administrative assistance including, but not limited to: answering the phone, directing calls, responding to basic requests or questions, processing forms, maintaining certain records and facilitating communication between administration, faculty, staff, students, and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide coverage of the general phone line for the front office
- Use RenWeb and School Messenger/Safe Arrival to ensure attendance is reported and accurately recorded for all classes each period of the school day
- Follow up with teachers to ensure they have accurate attendance for their classes
- In coordination with the Welcome Center, document late arriving and early dismissing students – check sign-in sheets throughout the day, and follow up with teachers and families on discrepancies
- Maintain all excused and unexcused absence and tardy documentation and record keeping per the CVCA Student-Parent Handbook
- Communicate with parents and students regarding attendance-related questions and concerns
- Complete monthly reports for the Finance Office as needed – subs and teacher coverages (detentions, etc.)
- Administer parking passes for students, faculty, and staff
- Coordinate classroom substitute teacher procurement and placement daily
- Distribute and post mail
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A passion for building relationships with students, parents, and faculty in a Christian environment, with the mission to educate and cultivate servants for Christ
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills (written, verbal, and phone)
- Ability to multitask with patience and flexibility
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent observation and analytical skills
- Highly detail-oriented and well-developed organizational skills
- Very proficient in Google Suite (e.g. calendar, docs, forms, sheets, etc.), Microsoft Office, e-mail, internet, and other relevant software; ability to operate standard office equipment
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One (1) year of related experience
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Work is typically performed in a conventional office environment
- Sit for long periods of time working on a computer
- Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
