We believe competition presents challenges similar to those every person might one day face throughout life. Although these trials may be on a smaller scale, the lessons we learn and ways we overcome them remain the alike.

CVCA’s Athletic Program is dedicated to developing Christ-like character and giving our best to advance His Kingdom through sports. We strive to promote working together to conquer fears, to overcome obstacles, to look for lessons and motivation in loss and for humility and opportunity in victory and to honorably represent our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tournament Information

Basketball (Boys)

The boys team will be competing in the Division II Stow Munroe Falls District. They have earned the #2 seed and will host Akron East in the first round. That game will be played on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7pm at CVCA. Bracket (LINK)

Basketball (Girls)

The girls team will be competing in the Division II Macedonia District. They will face STVM in the Sectional Final on Thursday, February 26th at 7pm at STVM. Bracket (LINK)

Bowling

The boys team finished 4th and the girls team finished 6th at the Sectional Meet. Both were very close to advancing in the tournament. Joey DiBiasio finished 5th overall and Julie Gorbach finished 5th. This meet concludes the year for the CVCA bowlers

Cross Country

The girls team finished in 11th place at the State Meet. They were led by Sammy Bockoven who came in 5th place overall. The girls program once again had a great year winning the conference, district, region, and qualifying for the State Meet. Great job girls. Ryan Adams was the lone representative for the boys team at the State Meet. He ran a time of 15:59:94 which was good enough to finish in 2nd place overall. This race finished off one of the most impressive seasons ever for a CVCA runner. Great job Ryan. State Meet Information (LINK)

Football

The Football team has been placed in Division IV – Region 11. The top 8 teams from this Region qualify for the Playoffs. OHSAA Football Computer Ratings are used to determine these qualifiers. Playoff Information (LINK)

Golf (Boys)

The Boys team finished their season with a 328 at the Windmill Lakes District Tournament. They qualified for Districts with a 3rd place finish at the Forest Hill Sectional Tournament.

Golf (Girls)

The Girls team finished their season with a 7th place finish at the Brookledge Sectional Tournament.

Hockey

The boys team dropped their first game of the Division I Kent District 1-4 to Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. Bracket (LINK)

Soccer (Boys)

The boys fell to Bay 1-3 in the State Semi-final. They finish the year at 14-3-3 and were named District & Regional Champions for the 10th time in program history. Division II State Bracket (LINK)

Soccer (Girls)

The girls fell to Hoban 1-4 in the Regional Semi-final. They finish the year at 12-5-3 and earned the 2nd District Championship in program history. Division II Region 5 Bracket (LINK)

Swimming

The swim season came to an end at the District Meet this weekend. Our 6 swimmers represented CVCA very well. District Results (LINK)

Tennis (Girls)

Freshman Irene Norman falls in the 5th place playoff at Districts and narrowly misses qualifying for States. She reached the District Tournamment with a 3rd place finish at the Rocky River Sectional. Singles Draw (LINK)

Volleyball

The girls were knocked out of the tournament with a 1-3 loss to Woodridge in the Sectional Final. Garfield Heights District Bracket (LINK)

Wrestling

The boys will be competing at the Division II St. Vincent – St. Mary Sectional meet on Friday, February 27th at 3pm. Meet info (LINK)

Hall Of Fame

College Athletic Eligibility

If you are a senior who is planning to participate in Division I or II sports as a college freshman, fall is the time to register to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center. You must do this in order to qualify for college athletics at the Division I or II level.The NCAA Eligibility Center is in place to make sure student athletes take a certain amount of “core” courses in high school. Core courses include math, science, social science, English, foreign language, and some elective courses in these areas. It does NOT include courses such as Bible, computer courses, health, physical education, art, music, etc. You can see a list of CVCA’s approved core courses through the Eligibility Center website. For the class starting college in 2008, the new rule is to have taken 16 credits of “core” course work. Currently, CVCA’s graduation requirements cover 15 ½ of those credits. Therefore, student athletes who wish to compete in Div. I or Div. II college athletics need to pay attention to the amount of core courses they will be completing. We at CVCA will do the best we can to advise potential student athletes this way, but we don’t always know the intentions of our students for college athletics. (Beginning with the Class of 2014, CVCA graduation requirements cover and exceed the 16 credits of core course work.)

Also, if you are a student-athlete and wish to compete at a college that belongs to the NAIA, there is a registration process to go through. You must register at www.playnaia.org (LINK).
