BSN Sports Store Orders Have Arrived
CVCA Nike apparel ordered in August from the BSN Sports Store is now available for pick-up in the school’s Main Office.
JumpStart Rewind – September 11
The JumpStart Rewind and Ice Cream Social will take place on Tuesday, September 11 at 6:45 p.m. The ice cream social will be held first in the Cafeteria followed by JumpStart Rewind in the Chapel. This is a time for families of 7th graders to meet each other and hear details about their students’ experience at JumpStart 2018.
Royal Theatre Fall Play Auditions – September 11 and 12
High School: All high school students are invited to audition for this year’s fall play, “The Best Laid Plans.” Auditions will be held on September 11, 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the Learning Commons.
Middle School: All middle school students are invited to audition for “The Pirate Princess.” Middle School auditions will be held on September 12, 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the Learning Commons.
DR Trip Applications Due – September 14
Juniors desiring to take part in next summer’s Dominican Republic Mission Trip must turn in their application to the SMO by Friday, September 14.
Grandparents Day – September 14
We are excited to welcome our grandparents this Friday, September 14 for a small peek into their grandchild’s daily life at CVCA. Parents, please have your student arrive WITH their grandparents at 8:00 a.m. (if their grandparent(s) have sent in a RSVP). If your child does not have grandparents attending, then their school day will start at 9:30 a.m. Students who need to arrive before 9:30 may sit in the Chapel until the start of the school day.
Parents, please instruct grandparents arriving with your student(s) to park at the Middle School entrance if they have middle schoolers with them and at the Chapel entrance and Learning Commons entrance if they have only high schoolers with them that morning. Students arriving separately from their grandparents should be sure to establish a meeting spot.
Grandparents Day Schedule:
8:00-9:10 a.m. – Grandparents and their grandchild(ren) enjoy muffins and coffee – high school in the Cafeteria and Learning Commons and middle school in the tent outside the Multi-purpose Room. Grandparents with both high school AND middle school grandchildren will be directed to the tent outside the Multi-Purpose Room.
9:30-11:08 a.m. – Grandparents attend three classes with their grandchild(ren)
11:08-11:15 a.m. – Grandparents dismissed
Parents interested in volunteering the morning of Grandparents Day or setting up the evening before should contact MaryAnn McMullen. We would love to have you help make it a special morning.
Robotics Kick-off – September 15
The BEST Robotics Kick-off will take place on September 15. The bus will depart from CVCA at 7:30 a.m. Permission slips are due by September 13 and can be turned in directly to Megan Oyster or to the Main Office. This year’s Robotics theme is Current Events and our robot is challenged with the task of cleaning up oceans. The robot will not move across the ground but will need to move along a 3.5-inch beam. Our team will need to collect empty water bottles as a part of the challenge. The water bottles need to not be crushed. Bags of water bottles can be dropped off at CVCA and can be stored in the Engineering Classroom – Room 122.
Jterm Registration – September 16
Registration for Jterm 2019 courses will begin on Sunday, September 16. Please watch your email later this week for a packet of registration information.
SOAH Mentor Mixer – September 19
All School of Arts and Humanities students, their parents, and mentors are invited to Hudson Springs Park on September 19, 6:30-8:00 p.m. The evening will include dinner, their first meeting, games, and prizes!
Christian College Fair – September 20
On Thursday, September 20, CVCA will host a Christian College Fair in the Cafeteria from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This FREE event will include representatives of over 50 Christian colleges from around the country in one location! A financial aid talk will also take place in the Auditorium. Register at myblueprintbarcode.com.
Homecoming Week – September 24-28
Homecoming Spirit Week will take place Monday-Friday, September 24-28 and will culminate with the Homecoming Game Friday evening and Homecoming Banquet on Saturday, September 29. This special week includes several activities, including dress-up days and outreach opportunities. Get all the details HERE.
Homecoming Dress Standards
Parents, last week you were emailed about Homecoming dress standards. Homecoming is a fun formal event for 10th-12th grade students. There are instances where freshmen may attend this event with an upperclassman, but this must be approved. Please let us know if you have any questions.
