Royal Football Advances to Playoffs

For the first time since 2008, the CVCA football team defeated rivals Manchester High School. The Royals defeated the Panthers 42-19 to move to 7-3 on the season. The win also propelled the Royals to the OHSAA Playoffs, earning the #8 seed in Region 13 of Division IV. They will travel to #1 seed Perry High School on Saturday, November 3 for a 7:00 p.m. game. This is CVCA’s first trip to the Playoffs since 2009. 

Playoff t-shirts are available for a limited time. Short-sleeve shirts are $10 and long-sleeve are $13 (additional charges for sizes over XL). You can place your order by email at [email protected].  Please include sizes and quantity.  All orders must be in by Tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. T-shirts will be available for pick up on Friday and payment can be made at that time.

Pre-sale tickets are available starting Thursday, November 1 for $8.  Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on Saturday, November 3 for $9.

CVCA is offering a fan bus to attend Saturday’s game.  The ride charge will be $10 and will include a game ticket.  Riders will need to complete and turn in the the permission slip HERE by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 1.

No Afternoon Walsh Buses – November 1st

CVCA students who ride Walsh buses will need to find another way home on Thursday, November 1. Walsh will have a 12:30 early dismissal that day, so their buses will not be available for our students after school.

Pittsburgh Project Applications Due – October 31

Pittsburgh Project application forms and a $100 deposit are due Wednesday, October 31 for freshmen interested in participating in the 2019 trip. They may be turned in to the Student Ministries Office or Mr. Piland’s mailbox.

Community Open House a Success

Last week’s Community Open House was a huge success due greatly to the help of our current CVCA families and the enthusiasm of our student volunteers. It was a joy to see our students share their school with visiting families. You represented your school well! Thank you to all who invited families, helped spread the word, and volunteered that evening!

Student Drop-off Reminder

Students should not be dropped off at the school’s main entrance between 7:15 and 7:50 a.m. This area is reserved for buses only. Students may be dropped off at the Learning Commons, Chapel doors, or middle school entrance.

Senior Baby Ads Deadline – November 2

Reserve your baby ad space for the yearbook by Friday, November 2. If senior parents have not yet purchased a baby ad for their graduating student, there is still a little time left. Contact Jessica Kirkwood with any questions.

Schools of Distinction Information Fair – November 2

CVCA’s Schools of Distinction are an elective program introducing students to career fields in one of five areas: Arts & Humanities (SOAH), Business & Entrepreneurship (SOBE), Engineering (SOE), Medical Professions (SOMP), and Ministry (SOM). More information and an application to each program can be found for all the Schools of Distinction HERE. Students may apply to enter a School of Distinction in the fall of their sophomore year. This Friday, November 2, all sophomores are invited to attend an informational fair in the Learning Commons during Connections to meet the chair of each School, ask questions of upperclassmen in the various programs, and learn more about each School as they consider whether they are interested in applying. The firm deadline to apply is Monday, November 12, 2018.

Spring 2019 Study Abroad Program and

Scholarship Opportunity – November 2 Deadline

CVCA students in Spanish 2 or 3 are invited to participate in the Study Abroad Program at the Doulos Discovery School (DDS), in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic for the 2019 spring semester. (Another scholarship competition will take place in the spring for the fall 2019 Study Abroad program.) To encourage students from both schools to experience living and learning cross-culturally, CVCA and DDS offer a scholarship program. Two partial scholarships of $1,000 each are available to CVCA students who desire to increase their knowledge of Spanish and deepen their relationship with the Lord through their studies at Doulos. Royal Evening Volunteer Meeting – November 5

Please join us Monday, November 5 at either 8:00 a.m. in the Student Lounge or 7:00 p.m. in the Learning Commons for our monthly Royal Evening volunteer meeting. We are continuing to plan and pray for the 20th annual Royal Evening that will be held on March 16, 2019. Refreshments will be provided. The Royal Evening, a CVCA community-wide celebration of God’s faithfulness to the school, is the largest fundraiser for student financial assistance. Order CVCA Letterman Jackets – November 7

The CVCA Booster Club is partnering with Ritchie’s Sporting Goods to provide you the opportunity to order letterman jackets. Ritchie’s will be at school on Wednesday, November 7, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to measure for jacket sizes and collect orders. Pricing information can be found HERE. Ritchie’s will donate $5 to the CVCA Booster Club for each order placed on November 7. Please bring your letter and numerals with you if you plan to order.

CVCA Avenues Toward College Credit Presentation – November 7

CVCA will offer a presentation on “Avenues Toward College Credit at CVCA” on Wednesday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Learing Commons. All parents and students of our CVCA community are invited, but the presentation will be MOST relevant for current parents of 10th and 11th graders and their student(s). Earning college credit during high school allows students to enter college or university with advanced standing, often having already completed some collegiate general education requirements. Opportunities to earn college credit include: Advanced Placement (AP) exams, College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, and dual credit opportunities – including some that may qualify for funding through Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program. Come hear about the ways qualified students can gain college experience and credit at low or no additional cost while participating fully in high school life at CVCA!

Winter Sports Preseason Meeting – November 8

The winter sports preseason meeting for all middle and high school athletes and at least one parent will take place on Thursday, November 8 at 7:15 p.m. in the Large Gym. Athletes are required to register with final forms and pay their athletic fee prior to the first day of try-outs/practice. Details can be found on the CVCA Athletics page.

Fall Play Tickets on Sale Now

The Royal Theatre will present the comedy The Best Laid Plans on Friday and Saturday, November 16-17 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at A general admission preview performance will be held on November 15 at 6:00 p.m.

Our middle school will present The Pirate Princess on Wednesday, November 14 at 6:00 p.m. General admission tickets will be for sale at the door.

Giving Tuesday – November 27

There’s Black Friday, Cyber Monday… then #GivingTuesday, an international day of giving! #GivingTuesday is a favorite CVCA community-wide event each year. The impact of #GivingTuesday is powerful as everyone in the CVCA community (alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and friends) is invited to join together in joyful giving to provide the CVCA experience to more students.
