Prospective Parent Meeting – February 26 and 28

Do you know someone interested in attending CVCA? Invite them to one of the upcoming Middle and High School Prospective Parent Meetings. Families will learn about our programs and curriculum, take a campus tour, get their questions answered, and hear from our administration. Two meeting times are available: Tuesday, February 26, 9:00-10:30 a.m. (space is limited) and Thursday, February 28, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Royal Evening Tickets on Sale

Tickets to the March 16 Royal Evening are available online at cvcaroyals.org/royal-evening. Everyone in the CVCA community is invited and encouraged to attend this fun night of giving to the Lord’s ministry at CVCA.

Enjoy a week’s stay at Hilton Head, Beaver Creek in Colorado, or Hopkins Bay in Belize! (Watch the video at the left for a peek at the villa location in Belize!) Smaller trips to Washington DC, Hocking Hills, Breckenridge, Florida, Amish Country, and Michigan will also be available. What else will be available at the auction? golfing at Firestone Country Club, sports tickets, senior year essentials, and yes, there will be a puppy! There will be something for everyone. Will you be taking the ACT during the second semester?

Prepare by taking an ACT Prep Class at CVCA on Saturday mornings, March 2, 9, and 16 (attend all three). Take a practice test and review all four sections of the ACT. The class is $155, payable to CVCA. To register, email [email protected].

Year-End Reminders for Seniors

Seniors: As you plan for your final semester, please review this Senior Reminders letter which includes several pertinent dates for your calendar and information on graduation tickets.

Have you signed up for Continuous Enrollment?

It takes just minutes of your time and you’ll never have to re-enroll at CVCA again! The link to the form can be found in the Continuous Enrollment email sent on January 25 AND February 7. No re-enrollment fee is due at this time, but will roll into next year’s tuition payment plan. The deadline is March 31. Don’t wait – sign up for Continuous Enrollment today!

Varsity Academic Challenge Team Wins Tournament

Several members of CVCA’s varsity Academic Challenge team recently competed in the Summit County Academic Challenge League’s annual tournament at Kent State University. Coached by Craig McSparran, the team of seniors Justin Folger, Eric Hansen, and Cameron Smith and juniors Emerson McSparran and Ethan Wang went 5-0, winning their bracket and advancing to regionals. As an exciting finale to the day, out of all the players on the league’s twenty-one teams, CVCA captain Cameron Smith was named the league’s top-scoring player of the year. Congratulations to Cameron and to all the members of the Academic Challenge team!

Royal Swimmers to Compete at State Level

Two CVCA swimmers have qualified to compete in the State Championships:

• Mac Hancock, Senior – 100 Free PR 48.38 (New School Record) 4th place and 100 Breast PR 59.94 (New School Record) 6th place

• Josh Wodrich, Junior – 200 IM PR 2:01.28 8th place and 100 Back PR 53.66 (New school record) 4th place

Mac and Josh will compete at the State meet in Canton on Thursday and Friday, February 21-22. Go Royals!

Spring Sports Meetings and Start Dates

Preseason Parent Meetings are required by the OHSAA. All middle school and high school winter athletes and at least one parent/guardian are required to attend. After a presentation by the CVCA Athletic Department, teams will meet individually to review sport-specific information.

Pre-season Parent Meetings:
• Baseball, Lacrosse, Softball – Monday, February 25, 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel
• Tennis and Track & Field – Monday, March 11, 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel

High School Winter Sports Start Dates:
• Boys Tennis: Monday, March 4, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
• Track & Field: Monday, March 4, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

7th and 8th Grade Middle School Spring Sports Start Dates:
• Boys Lacrosse: Saturday, February 23, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
• Track & Field: Monday, March 4, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Baseball Youth Clinic – March 2

The CVCA Athletic Department will offer a Baseball Clinic on Saturday, March 2 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for baseball players ages 6-14. The clinic will cover the fundamentals of baseball in an atmosphere that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and joy for the game. Skill instruction will include: infield play, hitting, pitching, catching, base running, and outfield play. Cost of the clinic is $25. More information is available on the CVCA Athletics website.
