CVCA Robotics Team Heads to Regional Championships
The Royal Technic Robotics team took second place in the Robot Competition and overall BEST Competition this weekend at Grove City College. On Friday the team competed in the Marketing and Team Exhibit. CVCA’s Marketing Team (Sam Pixler, Sam Beckett, Nathan Heidinger, Cooper Bohrer, Will Cook, and Erin Kim) placed third. The team’s Engineering Notebook written by Katrine Melika placed third. These two events combined with the Team Exhibit, Spirit and Sportsmanship, and Robot Performance placed the team 2nd overall and earned CVCA a trophy for the BEST Award. On Saturday the Drive Team competed on a course that was made to emulate an electrical field. Our team’s robot needed to repair power lines, lay conduit, insert residential transformers, and autonomously deliver a piece to repair the field. Junior Ethan Smith led his Drive Team (Alex Cook, Nathan Honn, Kate Oyster, and Aiden Jenison) through a dramatic day of driving. After an intense and grueling competition, CVCA ended in second place. CVCA’s Royal Technic Robotics Team will compete in Denver, Colorado in December in the Regional Championships.
