CVCA Royal Technic Robotics Team Named Regional Champions

Congratulations to The Royal Technic Robotics team, who attended the regional championships in Denver, Colorado in December. They competed in many different categories including robot performance, team exhibit, spirit and sportsmanship, engineering notebook, T-shirt design, and marketing presentation. The team competed against 40 teams from the northern half of the United States.

The Royal Technic engineering notebook team, which included sophomore Katrine Melika and junior Ethan Smith, placed 4th in the competition.

The entire CVCA team was awarded 5th place for Spirit and Sportsmanship for their behavior, excitement, actions towards other teams, and ability to fill needs where they present themselves.

Our team exhibit, which displays the team’s outreach efforts, robot design and build process, our season mission statement, information about the season’s topic, and presentation by junior Ethan Smith, sophomore Kate Oyster, and 6th grader Ava O’Dell, was awarded 6th place.

The team’s robot was designed and built by seniors Ethan Wang and Nathan Honn, junior Ethan Smith, sophomore Sam Cox, 8th graders Aiden Jenison and Rob Keres, and was driven in competition by senior Nathan Honn, junior Ethan Smith, sophomore Kate Oyster, 8th grader Aiden Jenison and 7th grader Alex Cook, placed 5th. Our drivers were assisted by spotters junior Alex Singh, sophomore Sam Pixler, and 8th grader Rob Keres.

Finally, the CVCA Royal Technic Marketing Team including senior Ethan Wang, senior Erin Kim, sophomores Sam Pixler and Sam Beckett, 8th graders Nathan Heidinger, Will Cook, and Cooper Bohrer gave a marketing presentation to a panel of judges selling both our robot and company. This resulted in a 1st place regional win. Judges made a special effort to speak to the coaches from CVCA and comment that they had never seen a better marketing presentation at this competition.

These achievements led the Royal Technic Robotics team to be named first place overall champions in the region. The team is now awaiting their national rank.
