Orientation

•  The New Student/New Parent Orientation is scheduled for Middle School students on Tuesday, August 7 at 6:00 p.m. and for High School students on Thursday, August 9 at 6:00 p.m. Details will be communicated over the summer. Please print a copy of your student’s schedule from ParentsWeb and bring it with you to Orientation!

•  Monday, August 13 is a required school day of assimilation and fun friendship-building activities for all new students in grades 8-12.

•  The first day of regular classes is Tuesday, August 14.


Appearance Standards

Uniform polo shirts, jackets, and sweaters may be purchased through Kids Kloset Uniforms (907B Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223, 330-929-1810). Nike brand uniform polos and jackets are available online from BSN Sportswear several times per year. You will be notified via email and the Royal Weekly when the BSN Sportswear shop is open. Skirts for girls may be purchased at either Kids Kloset or School Belles. Pants, shorts, and boys dress shirts may be purchased anywhere as long as they meet the code description.

Chapel Dress is required every Chapel day (Thursdays). Ladies must wear a skirt with a uniform polo. Gentlemen must wear a white or light blue dress shirt, tie, and khaki pants. No shorts may be worn.

Spirit Wear may be worn on Fridays. Students may wear any CVCA T-shirt, sweatshirt, or team jersey with in-code pants, shorts, or skirt. The Booster Club sells spirit wear items during Orientation and HERE >>.

The 2018 Uniform Consignment Sale will take place on Thursday, June 7.

School Supplies

Supply lists for 2018-2019 can be found HERE>>. Students are not required to bring supplies the first day of school, but they may. Many students choose to “move into their locker” with their supplies the evening of Orientation.

Some teachers may require summer assignments. Middle school and high school summer assignments for 2018 can be found HERE>>

 

Schedule & Guidance

Class schedules are set by the Guidance Office. The Guidance staff is available to meet with new students through the month of June.

• Final schedules are posted and can be downloaded in the “Student” tab in ParentsWeb beginning the first week of August.
• We will not make any schedule adjustments for teacher preferences, lunch period preferences, or any other changes not strictly necessary.
• Students can drop or add classes until the 5th day of each semester. Check your student’s schedule before each quarter or semester and give your permission via phone or email message for any changes.

FAQs

Lunch Program from AVI Food Services

• School lunches are sold on an item-by-item basis.
• About 50% of students buy; the other 50% a bring lunch.
• Microwaves and vending machines are available.
• Students may pay with cash or a lunch debit account.
• To establish an account, the student will need to create a pin number, then deposit money in their lunch account via payforit.net. To set up a lunch debit account, go to our Food Service page.

Arrival Time and Thursday Late Starts

• The building is open to students from 7:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on school days.
• The first bell rings at 7:30 a.m. and the tardy bell at 7:50 a.m. when all students must be in their seats in their first period class.
• The school day ends at 2:50 p.m.
• There is a late start every Thursday with the first period beginning at 8:35 a.m. Students may report at the normal time, but must report to the Cafeteria upon arrival until the bell rings.

Bus Transportation

• Parents are responsible for contacting their local school district to arrange for busing from their district (if available).
• Bus routes through Walsh Jesuit are available for Bainbridge, Brecksville, Brunswick, East Cleveland, Hinckley, Medina, North Royalton, Richfield, Solon, and Strongsville.

Immunizations

• Our incoming 6th graders do not need any new shots.
• Before entering 7th grade, students need their TDaP booster and their first Meningococcal vaccines.
• Before 12th grade, the Meningococcal booster is required.
• You will be contacted by the school nurse if there are immunizations missing from your school records.

Ignition 6th Grade Retreat

Ignition starts everything off in the right direction as students begin their CVCA journey. Ice-breaking, team-building, and anxiety-easing worship and community experiences encompass the class’s two-day (overnight) adventure camp. The students depart at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14 for Camp Carl in Portage County. They return Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The cost for the two-day retreat is still TBA but will be less than $60 per student. (Registration forms and itinerary coming soon.)

Jumpstart 7th Grade Retreat

At the start of each new school year, CVCA’s incoming 7th Grade class leaves together for a three-day adventure camp. Students have the opportunity to meet new friends and new teachers during these action-packed days. The students depart at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, August 13 for Seneca Hills Bible Conference Center in Polk, Pennsylvania, and return Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. The cost for the three-day retreat is $100 per student. (Registration forms and itinerary coming soon.)

Launch Point

Held on campus, LaunchPoint is a half-day, team-building fun day when returning and new 8th Graders combine to get to know each other and connect as they begin the new school year. Working in their Connections group teams, students accomplish various “challenges” requiring them to work together. Plenty of social time to catch up with friends is included. We also spend devotional time focused on the upcoming school year.
