Accounting Manager

The Position:

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is seeking an Accounting Manager for the Finance Department. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Finance Office accounting functions, including: financial reporting; advising on budgets; financial strategy; budgeting and forecasting; general ledger closing; coordinating the annual audit; and supporting department heads with budgeting and financial procedures.

This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Ministry Requirements:

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage all aspects of the month-end and year-end close (including Endowment). Prepare entries to account and document business transactions. Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile all subledger accounts to general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements including budget to actual analysis.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget. This includes maintaining supporting documentation for the following: faculty and staff payroll, 401k contributions, tuition discount, employee benefit plan costs.
  • Work with department heads to monitor budget to actual performance and provide variance analysis as needed.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audit working with external auditors.
  • Prepare reports as needed for monthly Finance Committee and Board meetings.
  • Prepare analysis and projections for projects.
  • Establish and maintain proper accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Maintain records for employee insurance plans (medical, dental, vision. Life and LTD), unemployment, Workers Comp and 401k including approval of payments/distributions.
  • Establish and maintain files to support all business transactions.
  • Prepare annual distribution test, actual distributions and coordinate/complete the annual audit for the Endowment.

  • What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager
