Academic Support Staff Instructor
The Position:
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is seeking an Academic Support Staff Instructor. This position will maximize the success of CVCA students who demonstrate the need for academic support outside the classroom. This may be a full-time or part-time position that reports directly to the Director of Academic Support.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is a non-profit ministry that is dedicated to Educating and Cultivating Servants for Christ. We are a middle and senior high school committed to high academic standards. Our biblically-integrated, college-preparatory curriculum is delivered by a dedicated staff of Christian professionals. We are committed to teaching from a biblical worldview and philosophy. We are committed to providing our students with experiences that will foster in them a servant’s heart, including extra-curricular activities, interscholastic athletics, music, theater, short-term mission trips, and numerous service opportunities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
- Faithfully upholds CVCA in prayer
- Participates in chapel as schedule permits
- Demonstrates behavior aligned with CVCA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Core Values, Cultural Priorities, policies, and expectations
- Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Academic Support to collaborate with various parties to execute and give feedback on individualized plans based on various factors such as age, gender, and cultural background
- Measures, monitors, and documents individual student progress during the school year
- Collaborates with the Director of Academic Support, teachers, and parents to discuss student progress as well as refer/link students to additional recommended services
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and other parties to share subject matter with children, providing additional scaffolding or small group instruction when necessary
- Exercises open, respectful, and timely communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
- Provides a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus that always aligns with CVCA’s missional boundaries
- Creates and keeps records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with licensing guidelines and program policies
- Manages student behavior and administers biblical discipline in accordance with outlined guidelines
- Attends conferences and workshops in order to further advance professional development

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Computer literacy, including the Google apps suite and Microsoft Office suite
- Knowledge and well-developed skills in classroom management techniques
- Strong people skills and affinity for children
- Excellent observation and analytical skills
What you need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Ohio teaching license (Bachelor’s Degree and Ohio license in special education, educational intervention, or related field preferred)
- Experience in middle/high school student support services, especially academic
- Three to five years of experience teaching grades 6-12 at various levels, special education or inclusion classroom (preferred)
- ACSI All-Leves Special Education teaching certification (or willingness to obtain certification prior to employment)
- Ability and interest in involvement in co-curriculars (related experience preferred)
- Experience in middle/high school student support services, especially academic
