Why Serve?

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”   Ephesians 2:8-10

There is no substitute for God’s grace that brings salvation. This salvation has not been given to us merely for the purpose attaining eternal life ourselves, but rather we are called to be God’s vessels of love to the world around us. Jesus, just hours before His arrest and eventual crucifixion, tells His disciples to “Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:12-13) These words apply also to us, not only to His followers 2000 years ago.

It is with this in mind that CVCA has complemented our Bible curriculum with a Service expectation. We ask our students to serve in the local community, the nation and the world in which they live. They are encouraged to find appropriate opportunities within their churches, here at the school as well as with outside organizations, both para-church and secular, that meet both the physical and spiritual needs of a lost and dying world.

CVCA’s mission is to Educate and Cultivate servants for Christ. We believe that the coupling of this Service expectation with our Bible curriculum is foundational to enable our students to grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
