Begin a Small Group Connections Program.
Expansion will provide the areas for small groups of students to study relevant age-appropriate life issues together on an ongoing basis. Imagine faculty members devoting 25 minutes regularly to groups of 10 to 15 students — discussing relevant topics facing our student population, and taking the time to challenge them in their faith. This will help establish critical relationships which are at the heart of Educating and Cultivating Servants for Christ.
The Small Group Connections Program has the potential for many discipleship, mentoring, and leadership development opportunities for our students.
Initiate a J-term.
Many colleges and universities offer an intense two-week program of study immediately after Christmas Break called “January Term” or “Winterim.” There is a great potential for our teachers to develop innovative and exciting J-Term programs for students, including on-campus courses, internships, educational trips, and mission outreaches. J-Term not only provides learning in the concrete and physical world of activity as a complement to our traditional college-prep classroom, it will also encourage deeper, more intense faculty-student relationships. J-Term reminds us all that learning is not restricted to classrooms and books.
Launch Schools of Distinction.
The new and expanded facilities will help capitalize on the Academy’s preparatory success and make the exciting innovation of Schools of Distinction a reality. These schools are essentially specialty “tracks” within CVCA’s comprehensive, collegepreparatory program which will expose students to specific fields through curricular enhancement, mentoring relationships, and educational experiences; thus providing insight to God’s calling in their lives. By providing these specific electives, we can equip students with the ability to pursue certain professions, and explore various career opportunities through internships and summer projects which utilize local alumni, parents, and other friends of CVCA. Possibilities include a School of Ministry Prep., School of Business Prep., School of Medical Prep., School of Fine Arts Prep., School of Engineering Prep., Classical School Prep., and others.
