The girls' tennis team has had its most successful year ever as a team. The Varsity team was 20 - 2 and won the Division B league championship for NEOTA. They were ranked first in the State, five out of 6 weeks of the fall season. They lost to Hawken 3 - 2 in the finals of the NEO Ohio Tennis Coaches Assn. Team Tournament to go to State as a team in the Final 4. Their ranking then dropped to 4th in the State. The team was deep and included senior Asia Harris who was 24 - 9 in first singles, senior Erika Lester who was 24 - 6 in second singles, sophomore Skylar Dittrich who was 19 - 6 in 3rd singles, senior Ashley Perry and sophomore Maddie Haskell who were 22 - 6 in first doubles, and junior Arianna Ciepiel and freshman Bea Konstan who were 24 - 5 and 19 - 3 respectively in 2nd doubles. Senior Morgan Holmes was 3 - 3 in second doubles. These girls represented CVCA extremely well all season.
Senior Asia Harris finished 4th in Districts and earned a berth at State. She lost to eventual champion Rachel Nelson 6- 1, 6 - 1 in the first round. Senior Erika Lester finished fourth in Sectionals and qualified for Districts. She lost there in a tough 3-set match.
The JV team also did an excellent job this year and won the NEOTA F division 7 - 1. Members include Morgan Holmes, Kim Armentrout, Chrissy Cameron, Ari Carver, Hannah Forrester, Katie Armentrout, Jackie Stofsick, Hannah Wright, Mikaela Monteith, Hope Bolinger, Kaleigh Little, and Christy Rybka.
Our team verse was Colossians 3:17: "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Our team is known for "no drama,” and the girls are loving and supportive of each other not only during the season but throughout their time at CVCA and beyond.
