Technology at CVCA

School-wide Software

CVCA uses Office 2010, the Adobe CS 6.0 suite, and Windows 7 operating system on the 310 computers throughout the school. All of the computers have the same core programs so that any student or staff member can work on any computer in the building.

Computer Labs

In addition to general-use computers in the Library, CVCA has seven dedicated computer labs throughout the building: Library Lab, Room 117A, Room 132, Room 134, Room 108, the Engineering Lab in Room 120, and a Mac Lab in Room 123.

Video Media Classes

CVCA offers 3 progressive video editing classes as well as a J-term video editing course and extra curricular opportunities. Contact Mr. Eric Rostedt - ext. 228 for more information.

Student Flash Drives

We highly recommend that your student have a flash drive of at least 2 gigabytes in size to transfer their files from home to school and vice versa. Flash drives can be purchased in larger stores, and generally are under $10.

Student Email Accounts

Every student has access to a CVCA email account. You and your student should create a secure password that has numbers or symbols, capital letters, and lower case letters. An example would be to use the first letter of each word of a phrase; for example, “Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound!” would become AghSts! Please have your students write their password in a secure place to ensure they can access email account throughout the year.

We also recommend that they change their password from previous years and change it at least once during the school year. A good time for the change would be right before Christmas break. Students, please do not give your password to your friends. This can cause problems for you in the future.

Family RenWeb Accounts

Every teacher may communicate by email to both parents and students. Therefore, parents and students need to be able to obtain, read, and respond to the teacher using this communication tool. Please update your RenWeb records if you change your email address. Information can be updated through ParentsWeb, under the Family Information section, and then by modifying the Family Demographic Form.

Faculty Email

To email a faculty or staff member, please type in the individual’s first initial, last name, and @cvcaroyals.org. For example, kbeavers@cvcaroyals.org would be the email address for Kim Beavers, Technology Coordinator.
